If you don't need an active bass, I'd say the V5 is a good contender in its price range, and perhaps a bit overlooked, as the V3 and V5 seem to be more known. As far as I've tried, I'd say that the Sire basses are overall better quality than the Squiers in a similar price range, with better QC.
